Entry Prices

The Trio adventure race involves all three disciplines (mountain biking, trail running and kayaking) whilst the Duo adventure race does not involve any kayaking - see the race format page for more details.

Entry fees for teams of two or more people are shown below. Entry fees are per person and increase as race day gets closer as follows...

  • Duo Race £37.50 / Trio Race £50.00  EARLY BIRD ENTRY ends 3 months before event
  • Duo Race £40.00 / Trio Race £52.50  SAVER ENTRY ends 2 months before event
  • Duo Race £42.50 / Trio Race £55.00  STANDARD ENTRY ends 1 month before event
  • Duo Race £45.00 / Trio Race £57.50  FINAL MONTH ENTRY until entries close

Entry fees for solo participants entering a single race are £2.50 more than those for teams (show above). Solo participants can avoid paying this by using the multiple race entry discount to enter more than one race at the same time.

Multiple race entry discounts are available when you enter two or more adventure races at the same time.

The entry fee cut-offs are given above as a guide only. The specific cut-off dates for each adventure race can be found by clicking on the 'Entry Info' button for each event on the online entry pages.

Team Size & Race Categories

  • Enter as a solo participant or a team of 2, 3 or 4 people. The choice is yours!

  • The Duo adventure race involves two disciplines: mountain biking and trail running (i.e. it is for those people that don't wish to kayak).
  • Duo participants have up to 5 hours to visit as many checkpoints as they wish.

  • The Trio adventure race involves all three disciplines (mountain biking, trail running and kayaking).
  • There are two categories within the Trio adventure race: Novices for newcomers to adventure racing, and Masters for more experienced adventure racers.
  • Novices have up to 5 hours and Masters up to 6 hours to visit as many checkpoints as possible.
  • There are four classes within each category: Mens, Ladies, Mixed Teams & Veterans (average age over 40). Within the Masters category there are separate Mens classes for solo participants and teams.
  • You must enter the Masters category if everyone in your team has finished top of their class at a previous Questars adventure race and hence received a winners prize. The only exception to this is if several years have passed since you last won and your ability is not what it used to be i.e. you're not going to win your class again if you enter the Novice category.
  • If it's been more than a year since everyone in your team did their first Questars adventure race and each of your team members have taken part in 3 or more Questars adventure races (not necessarily together) then you are strongly encouraged to enter the Masters category. This should be treated as more of a guideline than a rule as we understand that one rule doesn't fit everyone.

How to enter

What happens next?

  • You will be sent an automatic email confirming your entry (please check your junk / spam folder if you don't recieve this)
  • Nothing is sent out in advance by post. The Final Details and Start Lists (detailing your start time and kayak time slot) will be published on this website in the week prior to the event.

Entry requirements

  • You should be at least 16 years old. Children under 16 years old may participate in some adventure races at the discretion of the Race Director. If you would like to have someone who is under 16 in your team please contact us before you enter to let us know their age and which race you wish to do so we can advise accordingly.
  • Entrants under 18 years old must have an accompanying adult in their team
  • If the race you enter involves kayaking, you must be able to swim 50 meters

Withdrawal Policy

If you are no longer able to take part in an event you can find someone else to take your place and change your entry for free up to one week before the event. Team leaders should use their email address to log in here, click on the 'My Events' tab, select the relevant entry listed, then click on 'Edit entry details' on the top left hand side.

If you need to make any last minute changes to your entry in the week running up to the event, then your replacement will need to let us know about these on the day of the event itself, when they arrive.

For information about Questars 360 entry refunds / transfers see the Questars 360 Withdrawal Policy.

Information regarding refunds and transfers for all other Questars adventure races can be found below.

One Day & Q2 Adventure Races

We are unable to provide refunds on entry payments due to the costs incurred from the moment payment is made (e.g. card processing and payment transaction fees). Instead we offer to transfer individual places or whole entries to another adventure race (subject to availability) either in the same calendar year or the following calendar year, providing you let us know before the transfer deadline.

Please note, we're not able to transfer places or entries after the transfer deadline as we will have incurred significant costs in the expectation that you will take part in the event for which you are entered (e.g. venue fees, hire of electronic scoring device, printing of maps, permissions & licences etc.). We are therefore unfortunately unable to accept any last minute transfer requests whatever the reason - this includes unforseen circumstances, injuries, family emergencies etc.

  • Your place / entry will be transferred for FREE if you give us at least one months notice before the event (NB. if there is any difference between the entry fees, you will need to pay this difference).
  • A transfer fee of £10 per person will apply to transfer requests received less than one month before the event.
  • The transfer deadline is the Friday two weeks before the start of the race.
  • Your place / entry can only be transferred once.

To transfer your place / entry to a different race, please reply to your entry confirmation email and add 'Transfer Request' to the subject title or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and include your entry ID number (which the team leader can find by using their email address to log in here). If you don't want to transfer the whole entry (i.e. all team members) remember to let us know the names of the people whose places you want to transfer. If you don't know which adventure race you want to transfer your place(s) / entry to that's not a problem - you can let us know later i.e. after we receive your initial withdrawal notification and transfer request email.

Your Property

  • Adventure racing kit is valuable so keep it safe and secure, eg always bring a device to secure your bike at the bike transition point
  • Put any transition kit in a distinctive plastic bag or box but be aware if this is left in a transition zone it may not be secure
  • Always collect all your kit at the end of your race: double check you take all the items you brought with you home with you!
  • If you do leave anything at an event, you will be responsible for recovering it from the venue.

Cancellation Policy

If for whatever reason we have to cancel an adventure race then we will endeavour to give you as much notice as possible. But please note, we can not rule out the possibility of having to cancel an adventure race at the last minute due to exceptional circumstances beyond our control (e.g. course conditions / the weather / permissions being rescinded) - though in over 10 years of organising Questars adventure races we have never had to do this.

In the unlikely event of an adventure race being cancelled, our standard procedure would be to issue all teams with a credit note for the full amount they paid to enter the race, which they will be able to use against an entry into another adventure race. Please note we can not be held responsible for any other costs that you may have incurred. This includes, but is not limited to, any bike hire, overnight accommodation and/or travel costs.
